US Army enlists Kano man who married an older American citizen

Suleiman Isah, a man from Kano, Nigeria, made headlines when he married an American citizen, Janine

Sanchez, who was 46 years old at the time. The couple, who met on social media, tied the knot on December 13, 2020, in a grand ceremony at MOPOL 52 Barracks Juma’at Mosque in Panshekara, Kumbotso Local Government of Kano State.

 

The wedding was attended by thousands of well-wishers from within and outside the state, including a former Senator who represented Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, who is also a relative of the groom’s father. Sani stood in as Janine’s representative (waliy) during the ceremony.

 

The couple's union was met with criticism from some quarters due to the difference in their ages and nationalities. However, Sani defended the marriage and congratulated the couple on social media, stating that he was proud of them.

 

Recently, Suleiman Isah shared some exciting news on his Facebook page. He revealed that he had joined the California Army National Guard, a reserve of the United States Army. The California Army National Guard has a strength of 18,450 soldiers.

 

Suleiman shared a photo of himself wearing the uniform of the US Army and captioned it "Alhamdullillah- forever grateful." His post was met with a lot of congratulatory messages from well-wishers.
