Chikezie Uwazie, met an untimely demise. News of his passing, which followed closely on the heels of the deaths of popular actors Saint Obi and Murphy Afolabi, sent shockwaves throughout the entertainment community.Chikezie Uwazie breathed
his last in the United States of America just a few days ago, succumbing to the
complications of a second brain surgery. He had relocated to the United States
over seven years ago, leaving behind a vibrant career in Nigeria.
During his time in
Nollywood, Chikezie Uwazie emerged as one of the leading stars of the early
2000s, leaving an indelible mark on the industry. He graced the screens in
numerous films, showcasing his talent and captivating audiences with his
performances. One notable production he featured in was the critically
acclaimed movie titled "Musical Whispers." The film, centered around
the topic of autism, was skillfully produced by Ebele Okaro and directed by the
visionary Bond Emeruwa. Chikezie Uwazie also left his mark on the film
"Village Destroyer," where he shared the screen with renowned actors
such as Osita Iheme and Ugo Ugbor. Additionally, he showcased his acting
prowess in "Last Kiss," a movie that featured an ensemble cast
including Emeka Ike, Ini Edo, Ejike Asiegbu, and Mercy Johnson Okojie, among
several other talented performers.
Upon hearing the
devastating news, Chikezie's colleague, Obey Etok Chima, took to Facebook to
share her grief. She expressed her disbelief and sorrow, recalling their
conversations about Chikezie's aspirations to seek greener pastures in the
United States. However, he never returned as promised. The sudden news of his
demise left her reeling in shock. In her heartfelt post, Obey Etok Chima wrote,
"I can't imagine I'm posting this. Chikezie Uwazie goneeeee. After a 2nd
brain surgery. Gini na emezi. I am so shocked to get this news this evening.
Just got this from our IMSU alumni platform. I thought you told me you were
going to the states for greener pastures. You promised to come back some years
back, but I didn't see you. Can't believe you are gone, but God knows best.
Rest on Chyko."
The unfortunate passing
of Chikezie Uwazie marks the third tragic loss within the Nollywood community
in a span of just three days, following the deaths of Saint Obi and Murphy
Afolabi. These consecutive losses have left the industry in mourning, as
