During a roundtable discussion held in Abuja on Wednesday, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu
Sa’ad Abubakar, conveyed a stern warning to the opposition regarding the impending inauguration of President-elect Bola Tinubu on May 29. The monarch, joined by a gathering of traditional and religious rulers, emphasized that the transition of power would proceed regardless of any grievances held by the opposition.The event, organized by the World Bank, centered around
formulating a comprehensive strategy to enhance human capital development
within the country, with a specific focus on promoting girl child education. As
the discussions progressed, the Sultan seized the opportunity to address the
imminent change in administration and its implications for the nation.
Addressing the audience, the Sultan emphasized the
inevitability of the upcoming transfer of power, stating unequivocally that a
new administration would assume control on May 29, whether it garnered favor or
not. In light of this fact, he implored the citizens to unite in prayer,
invoking divine intervention for the success and stability of the incoming
government.
Recognizing the significance of the moment, the Sultan urged
the gathering to contemplate their role in facilitating the stabilization and
progress of the country under the new administration. While acknowledging the
power of prayer, he also encouraged religious and traditional leaders to go
beyond supplication and actively contribute to the betterment of the nation.
Expressing his belief in the Almighty and the divine
authority to give and take away, the Sultan emphasized that the inauguration of
a new government was an inevitable event that demanded collective
responsibility. He called upon all leaders, irrespective of their religious or
traditional affiliations, to unite their efforts and work in harmony for the
betterment of the nation.
