Seun Kuti speaks out following arrest order by IGP, alleging attempted murder

Seun Kuti, a popular Nigerian Afrobeat musician, has responded to an order given by the Inspector-

General of Police, Usman Baba, for his arrest following an incident where he was seen manhandling a police officer in a video that went viral on the internet.

According to reports from THE WHISTLER, the police chief instructed the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, to effect Kuti's arrest. However, Kuti took to his Instagram page to clarify the situation and explain what led to the altercation with the police officer.

In his Instagram post, Kuti revealed that the police officer in question had attempted to murder him and his family, an accusation he said he had evidence to back up. However, he chose not to pursue the matter further and agreed not to press charges against the officer. Kuti also urged the public to let the officer keep his job and welcomed the investigation into the incident.

Kuti said, “He tried to kill me and my family. I have the proof but I'm not seeking attention. He has apologised and I have agreed not to press charges. Please, let's mind our own business and not make the poor guy lose his job. I welcome the investigation and will give my full cooperation! I also pray to the IG that whoever is wrong should be indicted.”

The incident has caused a stir on social media, with many people expressing their opinions on the matter. While some people have criticised Kuti for manhandling a police officer, others have supported his actions, citing police brutality and harassment as a common occurrence in Nigeria.

Regardless of the public's reaction, it is expected that the police will investigate the matter thoroughly to determine what really transpired between Kuti and the police officer in question.
