APC Deputy Spokesperson Steps Down from Position

In a significant development within the All Progressives Congress (APC), Murtala Ajaka, the Deputy

National Publicity Secretary of the party, has decided to step down from his position. Ajaka, who had aspirations of becoming the APC candidate for the governorship race in Kogi state, was unsuccessful in securing the party's ticket. He faced defeat at the hands of Ahmed Ododo, the former local government Auditor-General in the state.

With the upcoming governorship poll scheduled for November 11 in Kogi, Ajaka did not want to leave anything to chance. He took the proactive step of writing a letter to Abdullahi Adamu, the National Chairman of the APC. In the letter, dated May 17, Ajaka not only resigned from his role as the Deputy National Publicity Secretary but also relinquished his membership in the National Working Committee.

The contents of the letter expressed Ajaka's decision to resign and were conveyed in a respectful and appreciative manner. He commended the leadership of the party, particularly highlighting the National Chairman's exceptional skills, intelligence, political acumen, and the collective efforts of the current National Working Committee. Ajaka acknowledged the significant achievements and victories the party had secured in the past general elections, including the successful presidential election.

While Ajaka did not explicitly mention the next political party he plans to align himself with, he did not rule out the possibility of joining another party. However, reports suggest that he is actively working towards joining the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and is seeking to be adopted as their candidate for the upcoming governorship election.

The decision made by Murtala Ajaka to step down from his position in the APC marks a notable change in the political landscape of Kogi state. As he explores the possibility of joining the SDP, the political atmosphere in the state is likely to witness further developments and shifting alliances in the run-up to the governorship election.
