During an interview on Channels Television, David Umahi, the Governor of Ebonyi State,
revealed that his family had conspired against him by voting for the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, during the presidential election. He expressed surprise that President Muhammadu Buhari and the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, lost their states to the opposition parties during the February 25 polls. Governor Umahi stated that he had not expected LP to win any election in Ebonyi State, given the political structure in place that prevented other political parties from winning even the councilorship election. The governor further explained that he was unaware of his
family's support for Peter Obi, as they had voted for APC in other elections in
the state. He believed that the votes obtained by Peter Obi during the election
were a result of protest votes, driven by Nigeria's apparent hardship and
challenges. Governor Umahi clarified that the LP's victory was not due to Peter
Obi's popularity or the party's popularity in Ebonyi State. Instead, he believed
it was a way for the people to express their grievances against the APC and
PDP.
Overall, Governor Umahi was surprised by the outcome of the
presidential election, and he acknowledged that his family's actions had
contributed to the LP's victory. He emphasized that the hardship and challenges
in Nigeria had led to the protest votes and that the LP's victory was not an
indication of their popularity in Ebonyi State.
Yes of course. Why not the popularity of Peter Obi and LP? With all your s at the centero called structures, Peter Obi won in Ebonyin.
ReplyDeleteProtest vote or not, Nigerians are fed up with APC or PDP. They could see light and hope in Peter Obi and LP in government at the center.
Buhari rode on protest vote. Gov. Obaseki rode on protest vote in Edo State. Kwankwaso got Kano as a result of protest vote.
Your family jettisoned APC to vote Obi and LP. This is to tell you that your time and that of the rulling APC is up.
