A Federal High Court in Abuja, Nigeria, recently made a ruling on a lawsuit filed by Senator
Aisha Dahiru Ahmed (Binani), the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the previous governorship election in Adamawa State. The lawsuit was filed to seek judicial review of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)'s decision to reverse her earlier announcement as the winner of the election by the state's Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC).During
the hearing on Wednesday, the plaintiff's lawyer informed the court about the
notice of discontinuance filed by the plaintiff and requested the court to
strike out the lawsuit. However, Justice Inyang Ekwo, in his ruling, chose to
dismiss the lawsuit.
It
is not clear why Senator Ahmed decided to discontinue the lawsuit, and there
has been no official statement from her or her legal team regarding the matter.
However, this ruling has effectively put an end to the case, and it is unlikely
that any further legal action will be taken in this matter.
