Hon.
Jumoke Akindele, the first female Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly,
has welcomed her first child at the age of 54. She is a member of the
opposition People's Democratic Party (PDP) and represented Okitipupa
constituency 1 in the Assembly.
Hon.
Akindele served as the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly from May
2014 to March 2017, and has been a respected figure in politics. Her pregnancy
at such a late stage in life came as a surprise to many, but her friends and
political associates have been showering her with congratulatory messages since
the news of the baby's birth was shared on social media.
One
of her friends, Segun Odidi, announced the news on Facebook, writing,
"What God cannot do doesn't exist. The first female Speaker of the Ondo
State House of Assembly delivered a bouncing baby yesterday (Saturday). Her
first fruit!! What a cheering news! I'm so happy for you big sis.
Congratulations Rt. Hon Jumoke Akindele."
Another
close associate, Yinka Ogunleye, also took to Facebook to share the news,
writing, "BREAKING NEWS!! First Female Speaker of the Ondo State House of
Assembly, got delivered of a baby yesterday. HER FIRST BABY!! GOD IS INDEED
AWESOME!! Congratulations, Rt Hon Jumoke Akindele. My own darling big sister.
This is the best news I’ve woken up to in a loooooong while!!"
The
news of Hon. Akindele's newborn baby has been received with great joy and
excitement by her friends, political associates, and well-wishers. It is a
testament to the fact that it is never too late to experience the joys of
motherhood.
