Adamawa: Binani Addresses Allegations of Offering REC N2 Billion to Declare Her Winner

Senator Aishatu Dahiru (Binani), the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship candidate in

Adamawa, has vehemently denied the allegations that she gave a bribe of N2 billion to some staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to declare her as the Governor-elect. The electoral umpire had earlier suspended collation for the Saturday supplementary governorship election in the state after the state's Resident Electoral Commissioner, Hudu Yunusa Ari, announced Aisha Dahiru as the winner of the election.

In a statement issued by Binani on Tuesday, she revealed that an officer of the Department of State Services made the allegations against her while being tortured at gunpoint by the agents of the Adamawa State Governor and the Government House police team alongside their political thugs. Binani described the officer's claims as "very bizarre, unfounded wild allegations" against her and added that she had never given nor would she ever give such a bribe.

Binani emphasized her commitment to democracy and stated that she would never do anything to subvert the democratic process. She recalled that in the past, she had won elections into the House of Representatives and the Senate in a free and fair manner. Binani further expressed disappointment in the attempt to subvert the will of the people in Adamawa.

The Governorship candidate called on all lovers of democracy to take a deeper interest in the electoral process and democracy, not only in Adamawa but in the entire country. She pointed out that the roles of the INEC officers from Abuja and the real mission of the two to the Government House should be of interest to all democrats. Binani urged her supporters to remain steadfast, stating that she appreciated their support in the midst of half-truths and opposition smear propaganda.

In conclusion, Binani reiterated her commitment to democracy and called for transparency and fairness in the electoral process. She expressed hope that the outcome of the election would reflect the true will of the people of Adamawa.
