"Bring your supporters under control, PDP Chieftain urges Obi"

Mr Charles Idahosa, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo, has urged Peter Obi, the Labour Party's presidential candidate in the February 25 election, to advise his supporters against

making inflammatory statements that could undermine democracy in Nigeria. Speaking with journalists in Benin City on Thursday, Idahosa commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for organizing an election that produced many upsets, which he believed were near impossible in past elections.

Idahosa expressed his support for the Department of State Services (DSS) claims that some individuals were attempting to destabilize the country by disrupting the transition of power to a newly elected democratic government. He warned against making inflammatory statements that could set the country ablaze, noting that Nigeria is bigger than any individual or group.

Idahosa also praised Obi for his first attempt at the presidency and urged him to give peace a chance and build on his achievements, considering he has age on his side. He reminded everyone that Nigeria has come a long way and urged them to be cautious and give the country an opportunity to grow.

Idahosa lamented that some people were not satisfied with the election results despite the many upsets, pointing out that sitting governors lost senate seats, and prominent figures also lost in their respective states. He advised against condemning INEC and making unfounded allegations of election rigging, noting that no election is perfect, even in countries like the United States.
