Amb. Sara Abdul bags Topflyers Magazine “Africa humanitarian Icon of the year” at the just concluded Topflyers Magazine International Awards 2020.
Amb. Sara Abdul, founder
of “Shamies Unusual Heart Foundation”, an Abuja-based Non-Governmental
Organization (NGO) with a mission to rehabilitate, empower and reintegrate
ex-convicts into the society: through a wide range of advocacy, representation,
trainings, and support programmes has bagged the revered Topflyers Magazine “African
humanitarian Icon of the year” award.
Over the past few
years, Amb. Sara has, through her foundation, sponsored the release and
rehabilitation of awaiting trial inmates with the lowest bail conditions across
major prisons in Nigeria.
A passionate
humanitarian and philanthropist, Amb. Sara’s personal experiences have enabled
her to empathize with the plight of inmates and ex-convicts through a wide
range of programmes and outreaches.
In partnership with
several NGO’s, Amb. Sara has provided succour to widows and disadvantaged
children within and outside the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) through the
provision of food items, relief materials and toiletries to those in the Internal
Displaced Persons (IDP) camps.
With several
disadvantaged children on her scholarship programmes, Amb. Sara intends to push
for reforms that will not only improve the conditions of prisons in Nigeria but
will also better the living standard of prisoners and awaiting-trial inmates in
Nigeria.
A woman with a heart of
gold, Amb. Sara is a recipient of several awards from reputable institutions
within and outside Nigeria and her contribution to human capital development in
Nigeria merited her for this present award.
