MOTM: I Am A "Fighter", I hardly Give Up, Model Rhoda Steven

Beautiful 23-years-old Miss Rhoda Steven is a graduate of Mass Communication from the National Open University of Nigeria. She hails from Edo State, Nigeria and is known by those proximate to her as someone who hardly gives up on any venture. In this exclusive interview with Topflyers Magazine International as the MODEL OF THE MONTH (June, 2020), she describes herself as “a fighter” while narrating her thrills on recently winning FACE OF PEACE AND HUMANITY NIGERIA 2020 online pageant.

Can you tell us about yourself?

My name is Rhoda Steven. I am from Edo State. Also, I am from a family of 8, and the third child of my parents. I am a graduate of Mass Communication from the National Open University of Nigeria, Benin Study Center.

You bear two English names. What could be the reason why your surname is foreign?

Well, it is kind of a family thing. My dad sort of requested us to use his name (Steven) directly.

Adds In: That's  Interesting, we actually have heard something similar to this before.

How old are you?

I am 23 years old.

What are your statistics?

My statistics are 5.8ft, 33, 32, 37.

What do you think makes a good model?

(Smiles) What makes a good model is a good fashion taste, body fitness and good communication skills.

You recently contested and won the FACE OF PEACE AND HUMANITY NIGERIA 2020 online pageant. How do you feel winning it?

(Smiles) I feel very happy about it. It was not easy though but I thank God.

What was the pageantry all about and what are your crowns?

It was not just a competition; we also had training as aspiring models on how the model industry works. My crown is a symbol of peace and humility in Nigeria as a whole.

Aside the crown, what other benefit did/are you getting from the pageant?

I am also getting a cash prize, promotion as a model, brand ambassador opportunity and lots more.

What do you think made you outshine all the other contestants in the pageantry?

What made me outshine all the other contestants in the pageantry is that I was determined, focused and I knew what I wanted.

What were your major challenges during the contest?

Well…my major challenge was that during the e-voting (online voting), it was difficult to convince some persons that it was not a scam.

Prior to winning the FACE OF PEACE AND HUMANITY NIGERIA 2020 online pageant, have you in time past contested for other pageants?

Yes. I contested for “Miss Sunshine Nigeria” but I did not emerge as the winner.

Some people feel modeling does not add any value to the society and that models often have to soil their hands before winning any contest. Do you agree with such opinion?

No. This contest was a smooth one. We were not asked to do anything out of the ordinary.

As the saying goes, “behind every successful man, there is a woman” and vice-versa. Is there a lucky man in your life or are you single?

(Smiles) Well… yes there is a special someone in my life.

Would you like to tell us about him?

(Laughs) Not yet. I have some personal reasons why I would not.

Where do you hope to be in the modelling industry in the next 5 years?

I see myself as a super model.

How do you intend achieving that?

I have to work hard for it, do some more contests, get more agencies to notice me and many other things to get my career going.

What is your message to your fans?

My message is simple; be a peace maker, humble yourself and be patient.

Is there anything we have not asked you that you will like to tell us?

Oh yes. It is just going to be a note of affirmation and strong believe. So to my fans, role models and general public, let it be known that I am a fighter.
