MEET IFUNANYA IGBOBI, CEO WECKX DESIGN INT’L

IFUNANYA IGBOBI, popularly known as Emiweckx or Model Ify, is an undergraduate of University of Lagos, studying Sociology and a fashion designer. In this exclusive interview with Top flyers magazine, she talked about her passion for fashion.

HOW WAS YOUR GROWING UP LIKE?
My childhood experience was fun, as well very educative. The values of discipline were indented into me at a young age. I am who I am today because of my parents, family and friends turned family. So my experience so far has added a lot of positive attribute in me

TELL US ABOUT THE BEAUTY PAGEANT CROWN YOU WON:
I won MISS Fashion Nigeria World in the year 2014 (a National pageant) and as well, Face of Gmagz (a Magazine). I have always loved fashion and creativity. So far, I have contested for three pageants of which I won two

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN MODELING PROFESSIONALLY?
I have been modeling for approximately three years

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO GO INTO FASHION?
Fashion is my life; everything about me speaks Fashion. I could remember so well when I was little, I would pick up pieces of cloth materials and make dresses for my dolls without measurements, with a needle and thread. And each time I make a dress for my  dolls, my Dad would cry out loud in astonishment that soon I will start making  clothes for my mum and siblings. My Mum and Dad are my inspiration because they encourage me a lot both financially, mentally etc. My second inspiration is a designer known as Balmain

CHALLENGES
I won't call them challenges because it's temporary, the stock market exchange.... the inflation of goods and commodities, having to meet up always to the demands of my customers especially when they are much.  Also having to balance my career and my academics, it hasn't been easy but my Zeal and GOD's loving kindness has kept me going

HOW DO YOU FACE COMPETITION IN THE FASHION INDUSTRY?
I do not compete with anyone; Life is not about competition or trying to impress everyone at all times. I love what I do. I love it when I see my models or customers rocking my dress or outfit. It gives me joy when I see my clients rocking the clothes I made for them.

YOUR MOST EMBARRASSING MOMENT:
That would be last year in school when I was pranked by my course mates.  It was really hilarious

ANY AWARD TO YOUR CREDIT SO FAR?
I have won four prestigious awards; to be precise two for last year and two as well for this year. I am looking forward to grabbing a whole lot more this year

WHAT KIND OF PEOPLE DO YOU WORK FOR?
Its my duty to make my clients happy. After unveiling my fashion brand at Weckx design Intl on the 15th of October, 2015, I never expected that I would cloth top beauty queens, celebrities and models in the country. I am grateful to GOD because he took me by surprise; He took me beyond my expectations. Presently, I am an ambassador for Pan Africa afrique and we are working on an international pageant presently.
Weckx design Intl is the official customer for Miss orient universe whose grand finale will be held in Kenya this year September

YOUR HOBBIES:
I love to write poems and read novels. I am a song writer so I love reading novels a lot and at times, I watch movies when I am less busy

YOUR ADVICE FOR UP AND COMING ACTS:
Be real and never stop dreaming because dreams do come true. Work hard, always trust GOD, Love GOD and keep believing

HOW DO YOU RELAX?
I love a quiet place, just like a private pool and that's my perfect spot for relaxation.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE MEAL?
I really dont mind; my favourite meal is Oha soup and pounded yam, best prepared by my mum
